Introduction:

" Guilin 's scenery is the most beautiful in the world; Yangshuo's scenery is far more superior to that of Guilin 's".

The natural scenery of Yangshuo is unique and like none other in the world. The County alone has over 20,000 hills and over 250 scenic spots. Li River winds through Yangshuo for as long as 56km . On both sides of Li River, magical peaks and green bamboo trees reflect off the mirror-like surface of the water to paint beautiful mountain and water murals. Yangshuo was one of the first counties to be appointed as a National Tourism Area. Each year 1.5 million visitors are attracted to visit Yangshuo.

The Longji Terraces are located in Longsheng County , 2 hours from Guilin . The rice fields, when filled with water, resemble dragon's scales, hence the mountain's name - Dragon's Back. This ingenious construction makes best use of the scare arable land and water resources in the mountainous area.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Shanghai - Guilin - Li River Bamboo-boat Trip - Yangshuo

Our adventure starts from a morning flight from Shanghai to Guilin. After arrival we will drive 1.5 hours to Yangdi village where we will start an amazing bamboo-boat trip on Li River. You will enjoy the picturesque mountains, peaceful green fields, farms and villages with water buffalos, cows wondering around on both sides of the riverbank. After boat trip we will get to Yangshuo town in early evening. After dinner, we can wander in the bustling West Street of Yangshuo. We will stay the night in hotel in Yangshuo.

Day 2: Biking in Yangshuo - Dazhai Village

We start our day by cycling cross Aishan village via the old country road to Yongcun village. We will pass picturesque hamlets, tucked among subtropical plants and stretched in between rice paddies. Also we will see the famous Moon Hill. After climbing 819 steps to the summit of Moon Hill, we will have an astonishing bird's-eye-view of the surrounding hills and have a close look of the "Moon", which represent the underground river canal. We may be lucky to see water buffalo, rice farmers and cormorant fishermen. Riding through the serene villages, we can stop to chat with local farmers. In late afternoon we will drive 3.5 hours to Dazhai Village. We will stay the night in a Yao minority wooden hostel in Dazhai Village.

Remarks: We can also do hiking instead of biking.

Day 3: Dazhai - Guilin - Shanghai

Today we will hike the magnificent terraced rice fields of Longsheng, carved into the hillside over hundreds of years by the local Zhuang and Yao people. The peaceful tranquility in the forests can strike you to your innermost core. The only sounds we hear come from a babbling brook or chirping bird. In late afternoon we will drive 2.5 hours to Guilin city to take flight back to Shanghai. Trip ends.
